Meet Andrew, our new bass!

In the past few weeks, some very good baritones and low basses auditioned for MAZE, which means that we are now complete! We will introduce the new singers with introductory videos of our tenors and basses in January. For now, we would already like you to meet our first new singer: Andrew! He comes all the way from Australia and he will be one of our baritones and basses. We are very happy with this great asset to our group and we’re looking forward to singing together!

“My name is Andrew Hyslop, I’m originally from Australia but as of last week I’m now also officially Dutch!

I’ve played electric organ all my life (mostly movie themes) but I also enjoy instigating a pop-song sing-a-long with a piano whenever possible. After participating in a harmony singing workshop at the Dutch Buitenkunst festival a few years ago I started to suspect that singing in a group may actually be fairly awesome. A couple of years ago a friend encouraged me to join Vocal Group Pitch Control, at which point I discovered I was a low bass and that singing grumbling low notes is fun; my favourite probably being the low E.

I came to MAZE for a new challenge and I’m really excited to tag along for the upcoming trip to New York and all the adventures to come.”
